Our Mission

Walk for Kate strides and strives to improve funding and research for all types of brain tumors, thereby helping individuals afflicted with these life-changing ailments live better, and longer, lives. Each year in the United States, 20,000 to 25,000 people are diagnosed with primary brain tumors. There are 126 known types of brain tumors, but no known causes. To date, unlike with other cancers, there is no scientific rhyme or reason as to who will develop a tumor, and who will not. Approximately 13,000 people die each year from brain tumors.

We have made tremendous progress in treating other types of cancers, but research into the causes and treatments of brain tumors has lagged behind. There have been no significant breakthroughs in the past decade, although progress is slowly being made. We feel we can make a real difference in the advancement of brain tumor research, with a little help from a lot of people. Walk for Kate is dedicated to raising funds to help find a cure for brain tumors, and we will get there, one step at a time. Whether you participate in one of our fun walks/runs, or just sponsor someone who does, your support is needed and greatly appreciated. Your donation will help fund great organizations like the American Brain Tumor Association who are working towards cures, as well as local health agencies, to help brain tumor patients fight through their disease. Together, we can make a difference and walk all over brain tumors once and for all.
